the last use for the badly ailing 9-year-old stroller has been walking the three older boys to school – it’s just faster that way, and MonkeyBeef will put up with it because it’s a short walk, and it involves me getting a running start to get him up a hill on the way there, which is fun, and me letting the stroller go flying down the hill on the way back, which is even more fun to judge by the squeals. but trying to get that thing up and down a snowy hill probably isn’t terribly fast, so now that we’ve got two inches and counting, i got MB all suited up so he could walk himself. snow has caught his attention when i carry him around outside, but the first time i put his boots on the ground to let him walk through it himself, he was REALLY impressed. lots of dragging his feet, testing the slipperiness, and giggling. i allowed 20 minute for us to make the roughly 2-1/2 block walk, which turned out to be about right.
then on the way back, his brothers introduced him to the joys of rolling down snowy hills, throwing snowballs (and how watching them splat on things never gets old), and making snow angels (though DramaQueen, ever the independent thinker of the group, makes snow crabs instead of snow angels. i should get a movie of it sometime. he lays in the snow and, instead of stretching out to make an angel, he contorts his body a certain way, and by god, the impression he leaves looks EXACTLY like a crab every time.) all told, it took just over an hour to get to school and back.
